Episode 1: College Town Living

College towns. The only place in the world where a community of twenty-something’s pay exorbitant rent to squeeze together in dingy apartments lined with mold and empty alcohol bottles. Where it’s 6 in the afternoon and the liquor store is just as bustling as the neighboring coffee shop. Where everything is walkable, but much more bike-able. At least that’s what it’s like in our little town of Isla Vista located just on the outskirts of UC Santa Barbara. If you’ve lived in a college town before, you know what I am talking about when I say it truly is like no other. And if you haven’t yet, you may be excited to find out, or even a bit nervous. Whether you’re looking to reminisce on your university days, relate to other current students, or prepare for your future college life that now seems closer than ever before, you’ve come to the right place! This is the Student Spread.

Welcome listeners to the first ever episode of The Student Spread, a podcast by college students about college students and for college students, or anyone else really. Each week we gather to share stories, experiences, and advice from our time at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Each anecdote is accompanied by a dish to make up a full four course meal. Sounds fancy, right? It isn’t. We’re college students. But, we do our best with what we got!
